Black Angler - usually clearly smaller; 9 to 10 rays in the second dorsal fin; black peritoneum.

Biology

Bottom living fish on sandy and muddy grounds, often partially burried in. Occurs up to 1000 m depth. Males become sexually mature with 4, females with 6 years. About 1 million eggs are hold together by a spawning ribbon.

Diet

Mainly fish, which he attracks with his fishing rod.

Importance

Commercially important as popular and expensive food fish.

Endangerment

In many areas strongly endangered due to over fishing.
